Connection
This work of art reveals my reflection
though it's a painting and not a mirror
in this image, I find a connection
of a man who lived a life without fear
no burdens do I find etched in his eyes
from time, that drips upon a life well spent
appears younger than his well-worn disguise
his confidence and stature are present
from the gray beard to the familiar hat
is my wish for quiet conversation
to hear his truth, to then find where we're at
I will listen to his life's narration
