She hated him. Could she tell that to the shrink? She hated the ex-lover with all her heart. How dared he jilt her for that bit of a tart? How dared he stab her to the hilt, Straight to her broken heart? The wound was deep and hurt Oh Lord, how it hurt. Now she knew what a broken heart was. But she would not cry. Plenty of fish! Her heart craved for love. She'll love on the rebound. What does she care? So she'll confess all to the shrink. Would he understand? He looked so young, but That's how she loved them: Young and full of pluck. To think how shy she was of him during her first sessions. So she would not open her heart, but closed like a clam she invented things. Time had arrived for the truth. She lay back on the couch. She could see clouds gathering outside the window. An omen? A memory? Where were he and the tart? On an isolated bench under an umbrella? Would those hailstones large as balls were to fall on them. She thought of snow and Christmas bells but the hailstones rattled the window. Then she realized, the stones had the form of a zero. Time to end a romance and start another. She turned towards the shrink and smiled and fantasized.... he was so handsome after all.

Love the story Victor, the ex didn’t deserve her, maybe the shrink would. Love on the couch is one way to rid the grouch from oneself… Belle

Victor! I enjoyed this character and her story, so familiar to the any woman. I’m curious to know if men think similarly when jilted?”fish in the sea” is told to every heartbreak, I think. And, I thank u for all your sent prayers & concern for me! Dear friend, I am a survivor with faith. Slow but steady & bolstered by loving & being loved. Bless you! Hugs

sounds like she needed to get rid of him as soon as possible. Too bad with a male shrink always good to have a woman therapist when dealing with romance. Oh well, realistic and interesting.

I could see that coming. For good or bad…would she trust the NEXT shrink?!

hmmm, so did she have an illicit love affair with an ex-shrink? that's what this hints at to me. but maybe I am reading too much into it. Sorry I have been away so long. It's been a hard week. I have tons of poems to catch up on. great story telling, Victor

Ha!! Ha!! Poor shrink. I think it would be wise of him to follow the rules about not getting involved with a patient/client. Enjoyed reading your work. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

Sometimes bouncing back from a failed love affair turns out to be a good thing. Especially when it leads to the love that is truly meant to be. Loved this story and its surprise ending, Victor. :)

Love, like life, has its ups and downs, and Victor, we all must learn to ride them out. You have written a delightful poem. The climax of the poem does a wonderful job of conveying her emotional situation. Best regards and I hope your daughter is feeling better today.

A charming poem, Victor. Love has it ups and downs--such is life. The ending of the poem portrays well her state of mind.
