Confession and Plea of a King - Ca

Once enraptured by beautiful Bathsheba’s allure, my life went horribly awry. My appentency for control took a very bad turn after I gave into lust and tried to conceal my awful sin. I sent Bathsheba’s innocent spouse to the front of a battle, having him serve in a position not at all auspicious. My first sin of adultery had multipled into other sins! Now beset by anguish, I plead with the Lord to forgive me and show me his great compassion. I ask Him to assuage my miserable soul and restore me to salvation. I suffer here on earth the pains of hell for my atrocious transgressions. I beg for God to absolve me. Forevermore I shall sing praises to my beloved Lord. Yes, David was cruel to Uriah as you show in this poem. I have visited his city - you have too - right? Keep 'em coming! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

A great retelling of King David’s story. It also shows us that we are not beyond God’s kindness. God greatly blessed David and forgave him. He did however experience consequences for his actions.

Andrea, I like this story of the old King & Uriah's wife. Though she lost her first child at birth, she had another son, that God himself loved so much that he told the prophet Nathan to name him Jedidiah, meaning “beloved by the LORD". -Richard

I remember those names and am sure I knew all that stuff completely when I was in Sunday School as a child! Glad you liked my retelling of the parts I remembered!

And the Lord, though he let David suffer the consequences, was indeed merciful and in His mercy we know we can never be so far from the arms of God. Nicely said, dear Andrea!

Amazed at what you've done with these words. Curious as to how the thought came along... This should do very well in the contest, Andrea!

I felt the A words he gave us to use all lent themselves to the story of David! This is nothing special, but it's all I could think of using those words. Thanks that you liked it though.
