Thanks to Francis Grasso, I think my neighbor bird has been identified. He told me the name was orange-bellied barn swallow, and this indeed seems to be it!!

Some orange- bellied birds, fork-tailed and dark shiny-winged, have made their home on or near the rooftop of our house. Swiftly, smoothly wheeling and careening, bird-whooping to each other; freely, happily they glide. . . comrades of the sky. July 24, 2016 For the Etheree Contest of Kim Merryman Note: If anyone knows what kind of bird this might be, could you let me know? I have gone online to find out and can't seem to figure it out!

Congrats, Andrea. Comrades of each other, or comrades of human kind?

Your poem speaks of the joy of freedom, of comradeship. Reminds me of the bonding between airforce pilots on ground and in the air. Congratulations on your win, Andrea. ~karam~

Hey beautiful summation of the bird in the photo. But I also like how you shaped the paragraph as a pyramid.

Back to congratulate you on your win with this loving poem. Glad you identify this bird, we have one alike here but without the forked tail. They are very familiar. :) Sunita

Andrea, beautiful, congratulations, I think this bird is an American Robin, if you check google, it looks the same, but maybe it is a swallow ~

The birds in this family are beautiful in flight..We have them here but not exactly the same species..I enjoy watching them in flight in the early morning when they catch bugs while flying across the pasture..Reads like a winner to me..Way to go..Sara

Lovely photo! Did you take it? I am a long time member of the NWF. Your poem is triangular. Now the presidential race goes into full swing. It is starting to drive me nuts! Someone will be our new leader. I wonder who? I like birds - did you ever watch the Life of Birds on PBS. It was excellent! Peace & Love Matthew Anish
