Comping
I have been busy comping
over the last few days.
Just hitting a few chords
here and there,
trying to keep up
with the song that's
being played,
staying in the moment,
well within myself,
not ready for a solo,
hoping that I
won't be called,
but ready to throw out
a few bluesy chords
if , no doubt, I have to.
Just waiting for that phrase
or note, that will
set my own juices going
to construct a melody,
of course,
that will blow
you guys away.
