Colored Blind
Brown yellow or black makes no difference to me
For my friend I am colored blind
My gift is that of X-ray vision
I see deep beneath the surface
For my friend I am colored blind
You say you're as black as the ace of spades
My gift is that of X-ray vision
I choose to look within to where your heart beats
You say you're as black as the ace of spades
Why do you carry yourself with sadness
I choose to look within to where your heart beats
For within you have great strength and beauty
Why do you carry yourself with sadness
No one should make you feel you are less
For within you have great strength and beauty
I am one who is proud to call you brother
No one should make you feel you are less
For my friend I am colored blind
I am one who is proud to call you brother
Brown yellow or black makes no difference to me
Note: in no way does this take away from the outer beauty
which is always enhanced by the inner beauty.
I find cultural diversity to be stunning and very pleasing
to the eye. I also enjoy learning from people who's background
are different from my own. This is one of the benifits of living in
Canada, we are culturally diverse. Although I earned a HM I still am glad I wrote the poem.
