Collection Plate
Yea, they are greedy dogs
which can never have enough,
and they are shepherds
that cannot understand ...
Isa. 56:11
For the passing of the plate
is why they preach
Into your pockets reach deep
is what they teach
The prosperity you receive from God,
deliver to them, they say
Asking for more coins of Caesar,
you’re told never forget to pray
And always remember
to never be late
for the passing of the collection plate
Get a blessing they chant,
if you give to them
Get a double blessing even,
if you fill up their cup to the brim
Windows of heaven will open wide,
they extol
Money raining from the sky ...
silver and gold
Just reach deeper —
Pull out the plastic, and don’t be shy
Greedy dogs preach this doctrine
real bold
Feel their Balaam breath blowing
out the back end hole
God said they were greedy dogs
who never get enough
God said it ... God don’t bluff
They preach the love of Jesus Christ
with a poker face
But they don’t even believe themselves
a single word they say
Carnal minded with dirty hands
Greedy dogs
Filthy lucre loving tongue lapping
Greedy dogs
Now it’s the third time today,
they’re passing the collection plate
Ain’t got enough money yet,
they’re just greedy that way
Make sure it reach the back pew
where the little children are
Take the candy money,
they had saved in a jar
Telling the congregation to give
and give again
Preach that fiery sermon
with a greedy grin
Saying how the love of money
is a mortal sin
When those hypocritical words
come to an end ...
let the passing
of the collection plate
begin ... again
