On the Way to Memphis On the way to Memphis, Graceland-bound are we. I know a way to pass away the time. Since there is a challenge to write with somebody, Will you help me come up with a rhyme? A what?? I’d rather just tour Presley’s home. I’m hearing rules asking me to find iambic meter just to write a poem? Pentameter rhyming? I just feel blind. You’re doing well, but we’ve been BOTH off beat! Why must this weather have to be adverse? To think up lines in rain is no small feat while you are driving! Think up one more verse! That made me laugh! My brain I have to use. You back-seat writer, what now must I do? Your suggestions make words so hard to choose. The beat’s not right now? What will you do? Sue? Now THERE’S a funny line. You’re getting good! You’ve got the humor and you sure can drive! Who cares about it? We’ve got sisterhood; So when to Elvis-land will we arrive? Andrea, you just right click on the picture and copy just as you would a photo you get off the net and post it the same way. At least that is how I did mine when I used a photo of my daughter for a poem. A great collaboration!

It did not work. In fact it really messed me up. I had to repost the poem because it caused havoc and nobody could comment to me!!

It was fun doing this poem with my sister, but it was easy with your encouragement. I don't have a bit of poetic talent except to help you out. Also there is a Jennifer Walker here already, she has written a poem Floating on Ice. Also anything I write to you as a comment shows up as something I have written, which to me is odd.

Saw the pics. I got to see Graceland from behind the barred gate! :( We'd gotten there too late. Having missed our flight, we thought that would be a cool thing to see. Lucky you! Cute poem. Nice to be able to collab with someone and infuse it with wit. Hugs

On the way to Memphis, how apropos of you. To write a poem to pass the time, not by one, but two. Did you see the ghost of Elvis sitting watching passerby's? From where he spends eternity where the rock star never dies.

So you are going to Graceland. I once sold an article bout him. I like the Beatles more but I know people who like Elvis more. My late father was a musician. He love classical music(as do I) but he also liked some rock and roll as well. I admire you for writing everyday. I enjoy writing poetry and going to readings but only make about $50 or so a month from it. Who do you like better - Ayn Rand or J.R.R. Tolkien? Keep 'em coming!! Matthew Anish

I've been to Graceland a few times. It is a surreal experience to me. I was never a big Elvis fan but the mystery and allure of the guy really takes you away. This was really cool both poets. Best wishes in the contest.

Connie, she has been a while here supporting my work but this was the first time I got her to write anything. I hope she will do another poem Right now it's her only one here at Soup! Jennifer Walker is her name if you care to visit her!
