Cold Comfort
Enlightened lamp post cast it's light.
Shining through the city night.
Dancing in the rays of rain.
An eye could see nothing but pain.
She lay there in a pool of blood.
Her heart stopped with a sudden thud.
A leather jacket round her shoulder.
Cold comfort as to say they told her.
No answers in the daily news.
Detectives said they had no clues.
I turned the set off, went to bed.
My nice warm place to lay my head.
But little peace would fill my soul.
Somehow I felt a lot less whole.
What can we do now that she's gone?
But do our best to carry on.
