Cloudy Reflection - in collaboration with windowpain_poetry

I searched for myself
In cloudy reflections of unpolished mirrors,
my soul seeking solace In the eyes of others.
I asked the morning star to be my compass,
to guide me through the dark,
but not even she could bring light to my path.
I read the words of others,
wearing them like a warm coat,
incognisant of what I needed most -

Only through the bleed of my own heart did I begin to see myself.

As I began to forage in the void,
vanished verses, of my subjective soul,
which once trembled in labyrinths beyond time,
bloomed like born again petals kissed by tepid rain.

In fields where I hid behind silhouettes of butterflies,
I misjudged stillness for death,
blind to suppressed roots breathing beneath me.
My envious eyes cursed revisiting birds
who took their wings for granted,
until I realised the messages that robins bring.

Now my spirit accepts that my past is the most beautiful thing -
I can never have

and the inner child I once was,
will always smile beside me.

I am still gathering the scattered fragments of me.
Still learning I need not be complete
to see my real reflection in the mirror -
I only need to clear dust from amassing
within my eyes.

Hi my good friend, we can never turn back the clock - the time passed has gone forever, the memories of these years will mellow with the time granted us going forward in life. Gathering all the past both good and bad, makes us what and who we are today, scattered fragments of ourselves as you so rightly say and in so doing understanding that we do not have to be complete and realize perhaps that by looking at a true reflection of ourselves in the mirror and rubbing the dust out of our eyes, we accept the past is beautiful but no longer attainable, The ME of yesterday is gone, for I am who I am today. Hugs and blessings JENNIFER.

' my past is the most beautiful thing I can never have. ' So deep and moving in the most intense way, yet... light, airy and so very comforting. So much to see when you look beyond the mirror. You both have created a masterpiece. 💕

One needn't be complete. Completion is a mirage. Every created thing is with some blemish. To see what is our strength and what our blemishes are, one should have a clearer vision. For that we have to remove the dust from our eyes. Then all our plus will be projected before our eyes. Instead of misjudging stillness for death, see it as an invitation to move ahead. When l look at you, l see so many plus in you... a gifted poet who can move many hearts,.also as a man who has an empathetic heart. Your best days are yet to come. A beautiful collaboration.🙌 Keep writing ✍️

Nostalgia beautifully rendered. I belong to no religion, but it reminds me of Matthew 7:5: "First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye". Especially hard if we hold onto rose colored glasses. You're beginning the process of seeing how beautiful you are, as your past words will attest, and the audience applauds your work always in progress.

Sometimes in life we're our own worst enemies often looking for faults that aren't there. We should concentrate on the positives in ourselves and try to bury the negatives.. A well composed seamless collaboration SO. Tom

I feel that who we are is the most important thing to know and understand, because it is so impacting to our relationships and everything we do. I love this marvelous collaboration, and how it describes the search for self, through awesome images and ideas. I love, 'and the inner child I once was, will always smile beside me.' I also found the final verse to be impacting and amazing. 😀✍️

Silent One, your poem is well-written and flows very smoothly. It begins with a search for identity and self-discovery, a universal topic that many readers may relate to. The use of metaphorical language and vivid imagery successfully communicates the emotional experience. While there are a few instances when you can't even take a brief breath, the poem's beauty in style and rhythm, organization, and message is just outstanding.
