Closed For Season

It's always sad for me to see, No matter what the reason, A sign in an establishment Announcing "Closed for Season." Today it was the Dairy Barn, An ice cream place for me. The flavors listed "pumpkin" But it wasn't meant to be. For it was shuttered, locked and dark And bore that dreaded sign - Vacation for the owners But the disappointment mine.

This is so true of my seaside town of Westerly. A recent eatery of some standing closed. Why, no one knows. Another is being built on the same spot. What its future will be, again nobody knows. Thank you for reading my Heron poem, it's one of my best, in my opinion. Best to you as always. M

Wonderful rhyme, rhythm and cadence here Ilene. Beautifully worded and had a theme everyone can identify with. It made me smile. God Bless and a seven from me. JB
