City Street

Street pulsates under sky scrapers, listen To the city breathe blowing, huffing, puffing hurry, push, eyes blankly stare SCREAMS echoing in the alley go ignored in the sidewalk shuffle stench of urine, decay and APATHY By Rhonda Johnson-Saunders, February 9, 2012 First place in Suit Yourself contest max 16 (Brian Strand)

What an astute observation your last line brings to mind and how appropriate that your poem took top honors with such stiff competition. Congratulations!

Thanks, Linda-Marie. I wasn't sure if it was right for your contest from the beginning. I even mentioned that to you. But I still liked it and didn't want to change it. My poem is descriptive, yes, but not the beauty you were looking for. LOL. Blessings and hugs, Rhonda

wow, this is a GREAT etheree. I just love this form, Rhonda. One of my chapbooks is devoted entirely to etheree, and I can see YOU really know how to write them.

This etheree appears to be describing the streets of Paris very well. I remember those public urinals out on the streets. Good write.

Thanks, Robert! I have not been to Paris, but I have heard about the urinals. It's amazing all the places we can go in our reading and writing. I do hope to see Paris someday. Blessings, Rhonda

WOW! Well done! I can see this right up at the top of the winner's list. The word apathy speaks volumns and you masterfully placed the word last... so that it echoes, sticks... sidewalk shuffle, great description. I wrote something horrible last night. The fear still prickles. Thanks for all your lovely comments. It is so nice to meet a mom who can identify with my days. Looking forward to reading more of your work. I spend to much time writing, not enough reading, commenting... HUGS Cyndi

Thank you for commenting! I understand the time constraints. I have enough trouble finding the time to write. I want to go back and congratulate all the contest winners. I'm having trouble just thanking everyone who comments on mine. I am going to read your fear entry. I doubt it's horrible. Thanks for taking the time to read my poem today. Blessings, Rhonda
