City of Gulls Premiere Contest Winner

The city churns like a raging sea of gulls Where fear of death comes from an unchained door And masks of hunger cling to human skulls Fighting for scraps tossed on a barren floor Buildings stand, some falling where streets collide And garbage decays where rats are in sight Where change is which evil they will abide This disturbing hate born from city's plight Children play where glass is buried shattered And homeless snore on every dark street In this rage women whose clothes are tattered Find life lifeless, their children's death defeat Far from the rubble and city's broken walls Greedy men of oath toss scraps to gulls 5/31/17
