City of Broken Wings

I want to say the exact words that fit me But they were taken by poems and melodies I want to show you that though I think I'm dying You and I, we're alive because we're trying I want to say that my heart is torn in two One half flying free, the other enslaved, like you I want to explain the whispers of the wind And the colors of life, but I don't know where to begin Let's start with you and me Here we are, together living Our dream is to one day end up flying But our wings our torn, and we are falling We don't know when the fall will end We don't know when we'll fly again Together we are alone We are on our own We can't just fall forever Let's create together We will make our own peace Creating our own harmony We'll come together in the sky Chanting lyrics that make things right The wind will whisper Songs of approval We will no longer live under society's rule We are the city of broken wings The lost and damaged who dream of flying We'll make it together For it will get better
