Christmas Reborn

Each year when Christmas waves goodbye, We say never again will we buy into it, Yet each year we hope this Christmas will be the one, That the magic of childhood Christmas's, Returns and we are reborn, That the hope we have in others is justified, That the faith we lost is found under the tree, Along with a present we don't want to return.

I love this David. I love it's message. It's all so true. The rosy recollections of times past bathed in the warm glow of nostalgia in a world without wars is a place I'll always want to be. We can hope. I'm unsure if the word 'present' in the last line is a play on 'present' as in 'today' - either way, your poem is about hope and that message comes across brilliantly. Cheers - Gary

Sorry it took so long to reply. Main desktop kaput it seems. thank you for those kind words. Had not thought about present in that way. I Love Christmas always have. Of course having family together makes a difference. Nice in most ways too, not having to travel anywhere. Age has its privileges. I can't ever remember having Christmas alone, and I am a new year baby, so not alone New Year either. Take care David in NZ
