Christmas Is Coming - and No One Can Stop It
in a voice to stun
the town crier
he shouted
“CHRISTMAS IS COMING…..
AND NO ONE CAN STOP IT!!”
unlike the “Who’s”
they needed no Grinch
to steal Christmas…
it had been taken long ago
packaged and pilfered
denuded of its joy
its secular sadness…
exposed
OH, it will come
without Cindy-Lou’s pleading
a few hearts will grow....
a few sizes
the cracked tower bell
awaken a church mouse
a child toss it…
a crumb
an old dog sniff
unheard footprints
floorboards creak under
unseen weight
in a quiet voice
mankind still whispers
“Christmas is coming....
and no one can stop it??”
