Christmas Cake

Christmas is here once more, And Aunt Velma is baking her Christmas cake for sure, Villagers crying for more Old man frank knocking down our door Pans, tins, stock and piled on the floor, Voices whispers across the window We want more, please! give us more, more We want that Christmas cake that your tender hands make Even the crumbs the hungry villagers take Soon there was no sign of that delicious Christmas cake that was bake They continued again we want more, more of your Christmas cake More of those pies you bake Give us more, they shout With fierce of greediness creeping from their mouth They came from north, they came from south. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem! It reminds me of my childhood years and the aroma emanating from my aunt's kitchen when she used to bake Christmas cake. Of, course, that aroma wasn't associated only with Christmas because my aunt backed those cakes for weddings year round. This poem makes me nostalgic for those beautiful, lived experiences.
