- Christmas Alone -

              ~ loneliness - the colors of Christmas lose their luster ~ 
                                                                     quote by the poet

                                      Christmas cheer is difficult
                                     for those who remain alone
                          "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
                                         Time for expectations
                                            create memories
                                         with love and warmth

                                  Holidays in a magnifying glass
                                           "Blue Christmas"
                                 If you have no one to share with
                            lost everyone who was once close to you
                           Loneliness can have many different reasons

                            "Everyone" is looking forward to Christmas
                                                "Jingle Bells"
                                  Some people are looking forward
                                          to Christmas being over
                                   No available rooms in the hostel
                                            "Run, Rudolph, Run"

Sam Kauffman March 4, 2024 at 12:36 PM In the sparkling joy of Christmas, we must remember those who celebrate a "blue Christmas" and look for ways to create a loving family, cognizant of pain at this time of year opening homes and tables to those who are alone. That has been the way of our family both as a child and now. One year we found that a couple, traveling from England, was going to be alone on Thanksgiving. They became part of our family! I am glad I found your poem just before the celebration of Easter reminding me to be aware of someone who might be alone and need a place to celebrate. Know that you will always have a place at our table. Hugs, prayers and congratulations

Kim Rodrigues December 5, 2023 at 5:15 AM If you are house bound that is hard or in grief and don’t want to go out. There are sometimes groups you can meet up with. Truly not everyone has family or friends around. I talked to one lady at church one time and jokingly said you should come with us and she said okay and I was okay with that and I still think of her. We were going to my sister’s house and it was a nice time. God bless!

Tom Cunningham December 3, 2023 at 5:56 PM It's too commercialised now with all the tv adverts saying you must have this you must have that and people are struggling to buy everyday things let alone expensive gifts. It's not a happy time for those alone who can't wait for it to be over and for things to be normal again. People have forgotten what Christmas means. Hope you're keeping well Anne-Lise. Tom

One could volunteer, take Christmas cooking class, or something like join a gym. Loneliness can be sad... this is heart felt. Good Job! Just Ed :) Anne-Lise Andresen December 3, 2023 at 4:17 PM - Courses and gym studies are good for everyday life ... but Christmas is a holiday for family and close friends - Being lonely at Christmas does not have to be lonely in everyday life ... you have "friends" at work, "friends" at the gym , in the church, in the shop, in the street, and neighbors ... everyone goes to their family on the holidays - Like S.O. says someone chooses a "Christmas alone" - Some are too ill to celebrate Christmas - Many thanks for your comment, Ed :)

Silent One December 3, 2023 at 1:42 PM A heart breaking reality... I know so many you suffer like this...Commercialisation makes things worse.. I also know some who prefer t9 be alone at Xmas by choice Anne-Lise Andresen December 3, 2023 at 4:01 PM -You are right my friend, some people choose to be alone at Christmas... they simply jump off the "Christmas carousel"... and do not wish to participate... there is a lot of stress with this holiday and it costs a lot of money - hugs
