While merrit may exist on both sides, years will go by before this case comes to trial or settles. Some suggest this came up because iphone manufacturing takes place overseas. Others say it just came to pass now by chance. Hard to know what goes on behind closed doors, but this suit won't do anything over the short term to make users or voters feel better. So why go after an adored US corporation right before a presidential election?

The government antitrust case Could iPhone apps bust and erase While cores from this trial Face seeds of denial Picking apples will stay in place

Hey, the only people who think they understand are the lawyers. They are going to make a lot of money defending apple from our government attys and prosecution regardless of the outcome. Congress is way behind the times in updating laws on anything to do with information systems and social media.

- Thanks for a good laugh on a serious topic, Duke :) - the people are more loyal to the apples ... the presidential election is a joke - hugs

Anne-Lise, I agree with you. The coverage of what's at stake is so strange here, and people just watch what reinforces their misunderstanding of the complexity of our affairs.

Picking apples will stay in place that line made me laugh. A very serious issue , youv highlighted and discussed about and then to end it with that line is clever and brilliant of you. I didnt know about this case but as always your limericks are enlightening and very insightful! I find them worth reading. Love the picture too with the apple haha. Good one! Sending you light always

IE, OMG more light...I love it when you say that!! It means a lot. Glad you liked this one. There are some intense legal battles going on, and our laws are very complicated. The results often depend on the judge.

Wow, what great lines, Duke! Probably quite a few Apple pickers out there. Aren't those laws written to help keep new competition out of the marketplace? Go after the big guys(pretend anyways), insert the new law(s), then the hoops the little guys have to jump through are suddenly insurmountable.

David, yes you nailed it completely! I've noticed that certain laws lead to gigantic law firms and hefty fees. It's hard to imagine it will get better. I like to use the tax laws as an example. It could be much fairer and much simpler....but all the accounting jobs tied to it could vaporize.

Despite the potential implications of the antitrust case, the limerick suggests a sense of continuity and stability with the line "Picking apples will stay in place." This serves as a playful reassurance that, regardless of the outcome of the trial, the familiar activity of using iPhone apps will remain unchanged.

SO, exactly right. It's hard to imagine how this will change things, but the potential to affect apple's profit structure might occur over time. It's very difficult to fathom and the lawyers will have a field day right now.

Hope it is settled amicably. Unique theme, as always, Duke.

Vijay, it's hard to imagine how many hours lawyers have already spent looking at this case and how many more will be looked at. We don't have clear enough law and as a result this sort of thing happens. If I were a corporate lawyer looking for work, I think I would be in heaven.

A wonderful limerick highlighting corporate problems. I enjoyed the apple/Apple analogy.

Thanks Hilda, we have a problem deciding how big is enough. They have a lot of influence when they get that large.
