Childhood Magic
I walked along the familiar trail,
winding deeper into the trees.
The afternoon sunlight grew pale
The air, cooler by degrees.
The ground was a carpet under my feet.
Made soft, by pine needles and moss.
The summer air, fragrant and sweet.
Wildflowers grew along the stream and across.
Sounds were hushed, and far away.
Life outside this wooded haven was still.
Nature was easing the stress of the day.
With each step as I walked up the hill.
The stream below went on for miles.
The water ran fresh and clear
Children played, all giggles and smiles.
A special place that drew people near.
I sat quietly, memories filling my mind.
Until I heard a sound from below.
Startled I looked down to find,
Twin spotted fawns, with a beautiful doe.
I stayed until the day's light grew dim.
Sadly, I knew it was time to leave.
Walking back, I felt peace within.
A place of childhood magic...believe.
