Childhood Fantasies
Responsibility looms in the wings
when innocence begins to disappear.
For you no longer get away with things,
and quickly learn never to volunteer.
Eager for your debut upon life's stage,
you put away your illusions of youth.
And your endless world shrinks to fit your age;
trading tall tales for reality's truth.
Being an adult means you obey rules,
stand by your decisions, and go to work.
And gaining tolerance for inept fools,
who act like jerks or simply go berserk.
While childhood fantasies begin to blur,
sexual feelings start to grow and stir.
