Notes About The Poem

STILTON CHEESE USED TO BE SERVED IN A TRUCKLE LIKE THE ONE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH

Cheese and Wine Party

I went to a cheese and wine party on Saturday, where huge platters of cheese were on display. There was Gorgonzola and creamy white Brie, I devoured huge chunks with a glass of Chablis. Danish Blue, Mozzarella and Swiss Emmental, of course I had to try a sample of them all! I declined Edam and Gouda, I find them too waxy - and the last time I ate them I was sick in the taxi! Soft creamy Camembert and blue Roquefort, went down a treat with a glass of vintage port. Crumbly Cheshire and Cheddar were so divine, and tasted heavenly with red Beaujolais wine. I’d chomped through all of the Stinking Bishop, our hostess had to restock the whole dish up! Then I munched little cubes of Monterey Jack - if my doctor saw me he’d have a heart attack! When our host carried in a blue Stilton in a truckle, I loosened a notch on my now straining belt buckle! I admit blue cheese can smell like men's sweaty socks but ripe Stilton and crackers, this cheese simply rocks! ---In fact, blue cheese smelled much better than my sweat socks (back in the day) ---which isn't saying a whole lot for my socks, eh? Enjoyed this one again, the second time around, Jan. Congrats on your win in the contest! Best wishes, Gershon

Really a GORGEOUS poem on CHEESE. JAN, in India Cheese is not that popular as in western country. I am absolute ignorant about so many varieties of cheese. All the best.

OH! I love this one, Jan...as much as I love cheese! The only problem is that cheese and cholesterol do not see eye to eye! Cheese, crackers, Maltese crusty bread and a glass of wine...heavenly! Hugs // paul

Much better than a wine and cheese party any day. After a little wine, who can actually taste the cheese anyway? So I like it your way: Cheese first, then wine! G.L. in the contest, Jan. :) gw

Jan, I love this poem, I love all cheese like an addiction, I need help really, there should be an AA for cheese, but this is delightful for the contest and after all that wine, you were probably a little tipsy too. My poem, is called- Seriously, I Love Cheese, I think Barry is in trouble judging this contest !
