Bite Size No. 73 Contest ~ Sponsor: Line Gauthier ~ October 1, 2023

I wake at the edge of dawn to hear songbirds sing. A habit since a child, I love listening to their soft trills. It's then, as the world in slumber lies hushed and still that I impatiently loosen the reins of my gypsy soul to run with wild abandon, free to chase the wind.

Lin, your imagery is just superb - "the edge of dawn," and "gypsy soul"! They carry us into your joy! Congratulations on your win. Blessings

This is a beautiful poem Lin, I love waking with an unencumbered mind that sees things beyond the blinkered view that occurs once the day settles in.

We all have a gift, Dilly. We just express it in different wrappings, tied with different ribbons, but nonetheless, all that flows from our minds and hearts.

Aww Lin, I'm flattered - thank you. I was merely riffing off the horse theme. You have a clear honed poetic gift, whereas I just do what I can with an overflowing number of thoughts x

Good morning, Dilly. It's been apparent to me since I read your first poem that you have the mind of an artist. To quote you, you "see things beyond the blinkered view..." Many walk on sands and only gaze at the ocean, artists (poets, painters, etc) notice rivulets that chase the flowing waves back to sea, miniscule life in a tide pool, or the footprints of a gull. Thank you for your sentiments.

What a joy to read your wonderful description Lin but I sometimes wish I could gag the birds and their dawn chorus lol:-) hugs Jan xx

What kind of birds live on your island, Jan? lol As long as I don't hear the rude caws of crows, I enjoy their songs. Based on my last two lines, I thought this was a good chance to use my avatar as the picture.
