Chasing Away Joy
Looking for a new way,
To inspire my day.
Dropping what I love,
Chasing my joy away.
Trying to change ways,
And the part I play.
To reflect,
A better aspect,
Of Myself.
Tearing it off,
Putting it on the shelf.
Seeking discipline,
To complete my mission.
So you will listen,
And See,
Just how happy,
It made me,
To ride crazy waves.
Inside my mind,
Bringing me so high,
Crashing down to cry.
Retrying,
Another ride.
I Should've Died.
Instead,
An Everyday battle,
Goes on in my Head,
Chasing away the Joy.
Losing my hold,
As Life grew old,
Doing all I was told.
Now chasing my Joy,
Like It's a Toy.
To be played with,
To be Owned,
Like I have no control.
Like a Material,
Coating my Soul.
Letting Go,
I see no colors.
Hiding beneath cover,
Hoping Life Smothers,
The pain and sorrows.
Chase away today,
I don't want Tomorrow,
I want to stop right now,
And wait for my JOY to grow.
