Cayucos By the Bay, California

Springtime has her way-- as well, she has her will. What more is there left to say on this sea-salt, sultry day. 'Tis hot, the wind is still. Springtime has her way on hilltops by the bay-- Cayucos 'neath a flowering hill. What more is there left to say of lupines bright and gay-- of hilltop fields they fill. Springtime has her way as seashells wash and stay within the sand. Yet still, what more is there left to say on this idyllic day of sights and sounds, as idyll springtime has her way. What more is there left to say. Entered into Brian Strand's June 22 All Yours Contest Won 1st Place

Thank you for this great poem, Carol. It is very seldom I come cross words that bring pleasant emotion and serene mental images that linger in my mind through the noise of the day.

Dear Carol, my heart's imagination is enraptured. The sumptuous imagery of this brilliant piece brings me to the white shores of "Cayucos 'neath a flowering hill" where "seashells wash and stay within the sand" - a salty-aired, beautiful place to be! I relish your golden pen, sweet poetess, you never cease to amaze with your poetic gift. Warmest wishes, my lovely friend.. ~Susan

So good to hear from you, Susan. I'm so glad you like this poem. I spent many childhood days at both Cayucos and Morro Bay. My sister spent her adult years kayaking there (which is what Cayucos means). Carol Louise

Love your opening, Carol Louise. It swept me into the surging waves, flowers and shells of the Bay. Then, with its repetition keep me floating on the tides. Congratulations on your win with this absolutely delightful, well crafted poem! Blessings!
