Notes About The Poem

Caught In the Act

I bought her a bunch of blue violets and roses of red
Pure romantic thoughts were going around in my head.

Thought I'd surprise her and went round to her back door
There she was with my best friend, sprawled out on the floor.

She saw me and screamed saying "it's not what you think"
I lost one of my gold earrings under the kitchen sink.

Her face was red as beetroot, my former friend too
We exchanged insults and the air then turned blue.

Well I'm certainly no idiot and I have travelled worldwide
And it opened my eyes that she was taking me for a ride.

But there's one thing for sure, it killed my romantic mood
And you don't search for an earring when you're in the nude.

"And you don't search for an earring when you're in the nude." - the words at the end have pain in them! I pray nothing of this sort happens to anyone at all. Lol. Great write!!

Good one. I got a good chuckle even though it wasn't funny on one side of the fence and embarrassing on the other side. I guess that ruined someone's Valentine's Day. I know it is just a poem and not true because it could not happen to you. Thanks for your visit to my page. Sara

THAT’S where I’ve been going wrong! Admittedly it wasn’t an earring I’d lost… it was my car keys, I’d lost them in the park. Those idiot policemen don’t seem to comprehend the importance of nudity in a seek and find situation. ;-) Terry

This one Tom is not beyond the realms of possibilities, when people are caught in let’s say a compromising position, they really are likely to offer the first thing to come into their head as an excuse, nice humorous couplet, cheers David
