Chico and Simba. Sadly, I have no pictures of Callie that I know how to put on my laptop.

"Cats come in many kinds of personalities - the same as people do. Just be very grateful if a perfect one owns YOU." by Author A lot of cats in my life I’ve taken in. A silver Persian with green eyes was my first. She was lovely, but so aloof – to my chagrin. Some other cats had problems, but the worst were those who would not use the litter box – I felt cursed! Ralph, an ugly gray Persian with a smashed-in face, had a purr like a roar; he was really nice! Another Persian I’d named Lilah had a lady’s grace. Black cat Razzmataz and Sookie (Siamese) – each one had her vice. Strangely, not a one of them was interested in mice! There was one cat I loved that was the best. A plain-looking Calico was she. Nineteen years she lived with us; I felt so blessed, for Callie was as flawless as a cat can be. After all these years, I miss her always being near me. She’d follow me around, such a darling. A little bell on her collar let me know she was always there with its ring-a-ling-a-ling. Today I have two boy cats -Simba and Chico. They’re not bad, but next to Callie, they are only so-so!

Congrats on your win, Andrea. I wrote about our current (two) cats but my wife and I have had a total of seven over the years - not too far off your number. We loved them all but there were two in particular (now passed) that I still dearly miss. I enjoyed your poem very much. Take care.

Andrea, they all have definite personalities. My daughter has a wonderful cat. He'll jump up on us and let us carry him from room to room. He moves his head around looking in different directions. In addition, he loves to cuddle. He's a little wary of strangers, but he is a real pleasure to have around when she visits us.

I envy you that cat. My current two are not very affectionate. I think they are only moving decorations for my house

The thing I love about cats is they tend to look after themselves, unlike dogs who need to be taken out for a walk Regardless of the weather lol.

Enjoyed reading your poem. We had two years ago, the black one was my fave, so sneaky and light, if I was sat watching tv she would slip onto my lap and first I knew of it was when I realised I was stroking her. Do miss her but don’t have cats now as live near a busy road. Two dogs now. Take care Richard

I envy folks with these kinds of cats that go into your lap. We never let our cats out. That's why indoor cats live much longer. However, Simba has learned to follow the dog out his smart door and now disappears for hours at a time. It's very annoying to me. But the litter box doesn't get as dirty so fast!

Andrea really loved this poem of yours. Loved how you shared about your lovely felines. I can tell you really love your cats. I can't imagine one that did not use the liter. Pee uuu. Our stray surprisingly knew how to use the liter. My wife Judy said we were lucky. I just love your genuine wordes in this one Andrea and I am going to favor this one...

Our stray was peeing on anything fabric till we discovered it and had to take her to a shelter. Two others stopped using their box , one after she got diabetes and the other when we moved and she just couldn't adjust to our new home.

yes, get a cat, already grown up so its habits are well known. Find one that likes to sit on your lap. Small dogs, the right breed, are nothing to be scared of. And be really careful to get one where the owner is truthful about the dog. We tried getting puppies but could not train them properly. Now we also have a friendly dog with no problems. we got him from a previous owner.

We all have our favorites...even children, the unspeakable truth. Currently I am owned by two, but I do miss Shadow, a black cat that would follow me everywhere, smart as a whip. In the morning, when I overslept and he was hungry. He would get on the bed, lie next to me, and slowly put pinching pressure with a nail until I would awaken. Not to hurt me...just to get my attention. "Meow!" Hey, in cat language -- "breakfast time. I love you"~ another arrangement of meow" ending with an affectionate purr. I so miss him.

They are truly all so different. Just like people are. Some are horrible . Some smart, some affectionate. But most i have had were basically just ok. I sure miss Callie and my little dog Ollyver from many years ago. They were stars.

I love cats, but can't keep one in my house as my husband is averse to them. Your Calico who has been with you for 18 long years must have been so dear to you. I know how much you miss her. A cute poem.

Yes. I wrote many poems on her. She died of cancer and I tried to extend her life with pain meds but she would howl or go under the bed. So I had to let her go. So sad

That is Chico, an American curl because his ears curl down. He is nicer than Simba. It doesn't show strongly here, but he has peach tinged cheeks, ears and tail.
