CATCH OF THE DAY
Today is Father's Day. So I wrote this string of Haikus as a remembrance of my dad whose favorite past time fishing. He was a fisherman extraordinair!
dawn by the river daylight has barely arrived, mist dances gently morning reverie how perfectly the songbirds fill the silence old flat-bottom boat his rod and torn fishing net – father’s calloused hands the sun is his clock accurately keeping time has the time he needs sensing the currents casts his line into water waiting patiently he gazes into river's shimmering water his eyes stay steady before the line breaks he sees the fish’s white belly reels it into boat

'father's calloused hands' make this special for me. Yor dad sure seems like he was, indeed, 'a fisherman extraordinaire.'

thank you for your kind words. You're right, my dad was a fisherman extraordinaire! Alas, I didn't like to fish...eewww, worms. But I'd ride in the boat with my dad just to be with him alone. yellow rose
