Carnations
A simple pleasure in my life, I don’t wish for very much more
Seeing these wonderful blooms when I open my living room door
They brighten up my world, their rainbow colours so gay and bright
Staring at their perfect petals when unfurled is a pure delight
Some have a delicate aroma and fill the room with scent
Crimson, peach, or purple flowers to me they are heaven sent
No flowers at my funeral, they are no use to me when I’m dead
I’d prefer their beauty in my living room or in a flower bed
