Notes About The Poem

For Nette Onclaud's Trapped In A Tableau Poetry Contest

Captured Tableau

The cage locked so tight
knows not day from night.
The girl inside it
with terror must sit.
Just she and each wall
hear feared footsteps fall.

A stunning tour-de-force of vivid penning, Andrea. Your chosen words reflect in a sympathetic manner the girl’s plight. Happy Days, Howard

Hi Andrea... Hope you're doing good... It's wonderful to read a poem of yours after a long time... Almost after years. This is a great take on the contest. You've expressed the trapped scene so beautifully... Definitely a winner for me ...

I watch a good bit of True Crime or similar shows on TV which are based on true happenings. I can feel so much sympathy for the people who end up in those circumstances because it must be just horrible for them being in such terrifying situations. You've expressed it very well in this one. It reads like a good contender to me for Nette's contest. Way to go. Sara K

Thanks, Sara. I can't think of anything more terrifying than being a slave kept this way. Other things terrifying such as trapped in desert or snowstorms are horrible, but at least they have an end. For some women and children, this kind of thing is going on and it could be endless for them

Gotta little, lovely bit of alliteration, didn't even think of that plus. This is the second time I've read it but it is just as terrifying as the 1st time. I'm running away ....

Yes, I felt dread was stronger but feared is about the best I can get with the limited syllables

This is terrifying for certain Andrea, yikes. I've been gone for a while, I'm guessing it is for a contest? If it is for a terror poem it sure looks like a winner! It has the essence of a nightmare......!

Terrifying. Sadly, things like this do happen. Movies in sick ways glorify such crap. What we give our attention to we become. Like what we eat and drink. Avoiding is not ignorance -- we can take power from evil when projecting Light. I recall one-time, a young man threatening to kill me, had a loaded 45 pointed at me -- saw light surround me...he lower his weapon and burst into tears. More to life than most of us imagine -- stranger than fiction in many ways.

Hmmm I watch a lot of shows and documentaries on this stuff. I can't imagine ever becoming that way. That's really cool that your attacker saw a light around you. I think you must have incredible spirituality. I think I would have done well as a detective in another life. I see lots of true crime and my mind overrides my emotion in many aspects. Maybe that's why I don't feel very spiritual .
