Can I Write a Poem
After I’ve looked back
And summed-up where my life is going
To inspire myself to continue to move forward
Can I write a poem?
When the lord by his grace
And inspiring revelation
Shows me something
Can I write a poem?
When I’m in the valley
And my spirit is low
When I’m uncertain of just what to do
Or where to go
When I really want someone-else to know
What I’m going, or have been through
Can I write a poem?
When my heart is full
And I feel like I am the richest I’ve ever been
When the Joy of Christ fills my heart
And I rejoice that I am free from sin
When my heart to God-ward has
An incomparable Love within
Can I write a poem?
I write poems to tell a story
Of where I’ve been or where I’m going
I write poems to share a message
That God has revealed to me
I write poems to inspire myself
And others
To Love God and Live
To move forward
To be.
But mainly I believe
That I write poems
Because it is a gift that
God has given unto me.
