I am a Grizzly Bear flag, with one star in the sky
I'm a flag of the golden west
I wave under skies, at the edge of a sea
Over lands of the Pacific crest
Where the mountains are tall, and the beaches are bright
Where the valley's grow grain, stained with blood, sweat and pain
Where such beauty unmatched, in a high mountain range
and the Redwoods grow tall, far from Hollywood's fame
California's Republic, had a lone star at hand
Until a bear became known as the new source of pride
I'm known far and wide, where the valley and tide
has seen the pioneer come and a spirit so grand
Representing a state, of the great Golden Gate
And the state of the mind of the men who would fight
To keep visions alive, shining regal and bright!
I am snowcapped mountains that rise on the day
I am the right to live, the right voice to pray
I will not buckle beneath the strain of the fight
I will keep honor strong, and my spirit in flight
I am youthful ambition, in the restless spring breeze
I am hope of a future, beneath the winter's eaves
The colors I claim are proud to remain
Green, red, brown, against white,.. and my name
of the state that I claim is a home that I love
I'm proud to bear witness to all the above
