That would be so silly; something actually made in the country? What are you possibly thinking? This might require sitting still in front of something rather than a computer. Worse, it might help people who don't have jobs! Crazy talk.

You're right, Caren. It is just CRAZY to suggest that we manufacture anything in this country. Manufacturing is for countries like Mexico and China, not us exalted Americans with our $15/hour minimum wages. LOL. :) gw

I once bought an entire wardrobe labelled, Made In America, for a new job I'd gotten. It all fell apart in the washer the first time it was washed. Unraveled; funny, now we make things better but, China's productions have lapsed in quality a bit. It goes to show that Industry is anything but, consistent, no matter where it is.

"On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me -- a Japanese transistor radio... you know the kind with a wire for an antenna in it." -- Alan Sherman, c. 1961, when Japanese ='d el cheapo... It all goes in cycles … Looks like American cars are making a comeback again. In the 1970's workers were purposely throwing screws in the engine...And so it goes. ~ gw

Good question. Stocks stocks stocks. It's all about profits and the rich getting richer.

That's it, Richard: Stockholders first, foremost, and only. So, I guess the lesson is to become a stockholder or to get left holding the bag. I notice that all the Hollywood socialists are huge investors. :) gw

When I was growing up everything came from Hong Kong. Cheap and cheerful

Ha, ha. I like that, 'Cheap and cheerful,' Tom... When I was a kid here in Chicago, cheap meant 'Made in Japan.' It also meant poor quality, whereas 'Made in America' stood for something. That flipped in the 1980's with the ascent of Toyota and Honda... ~ gw
