By a French Window

By a French Window By a French window, Nelly rocked; Light gray hair, wisps affray, staring, She cared not what others thought, Nelly was wild and daring. Daring that is in her daydreaming, For she was rocking and remembering, She would tell a tale to a child, though, Adults thought her mind was slumbering. Nelly danced for King George in her day; Entertained a State Dinner at the White House; Married to three movie stars, She still liked to wear her gold lame blouse. If she chose to look into your eyes, You would see deep wonders hiding; Nelly was a Ziegfeld Lady; Spending her days, the past abiding.
