From the gutters you flew into my lonely heart, A hand of kindness tried to save your broken wing, I cared to the point of pain but I knew we would part, As others cry in flights of fancy your mother sings. In my heart whatever love I could for you impart, Or food in the quiet of day your mother bring. I knew this love would end in sadness from the start, As you my tiny feathered fledgling friend no more sing, To close beauties windows, in tears I watch you depart, As I hold last breaths of joy, in my heart I felt the sting, For my little friend you gave lasting love to my lonely heart.
