Broken Wing
I sang for a purpose
I sang because I had a song
I sang so that the angels might hear me
I flew because I had wings
I fell in love with the endless sky
I drove across the cotton clouds
You clipped off my wings and threw them to the sea
I looked for your face
Nowhere in sight
I needed you
I owed you so much
I thought I owed you my life
But I found light in me
And I let it glow
Despite the thick darkness
I let the wings grow back
I taught myself a new song
My own melody
So long I waited for you
To return my broken wings
I did not realize that they
Are no longer mine.
You broke my wings
But I grew new ones
You stole the song in my heart
I learnt a new one
You took away your love
And I decided to love myself.
