Bridgerule Bells
The frame declared unsafe, Bridgerule's bells fell
silent; no longer heard over the hills.
The loss was felt by all. Not to hear a bell
for Sunday worship or at weddings, stills
all joy; and for those who mourn no more peals
half-muffled for their loss. Yet the Captain
of the tower, thousands to raise through appeals,
found full support from a goodwill fountain.
The bells retuned rehung to peal once more
above the village for people to hear
a summons to worship our Saviour and Lord.
Restored to resound for many a year
we came for the eight bells dedication
resounding for us in celebration.
