Breathless In the Moonlight

We were vibrant once
but it seems the sun has taken it's toll
Slowly wrinkles and cracks have appeared
Our once glowing skin has perceptibly faded

I am now a fan of the moon
It allows us to maintain the illusion of youth
I prefer it's more subtle glow
as it washes over our bodies

Passion is our elixir
For our spirits have not faded
Our desire is the fountain of youth
You my forever bride
make this man thankful
for each and every time
you leave me breathless

"I am now a fan of the moon It allows us to maintain the illusion of youth" ... gray hairs become shining silver in that light! Beautiful to see a man and wife still in love with another after all these years and still staying strong. Regards ... Tim.

Hi Richard, Wow. We all age, but with that comes experience, if we are prepared to learn. That is our gift. Those wrinkles are our life's story/journey. They are beautiful. Frances

What an exquisite expression of love that is contained within this beautiful poem Richard! Wrinkles are a badge of honor and wisdom and they are welcome in my household. In fact my husband and I laugh about growing older. We even often laugh about the aches and pains that come with age. I so enjoyed your lovely poem. Your wife is a very lucky lady my friend. xxoo

Oh, darn it, I relate to this which is why I avoid mirrors, if I don't look in them I still feel as I always have. You tackled that subject with the wisdom of acceptance, your wisdom that also put a positive spin on what cannot be changed. Next, you up and turned the entire thing into romantically breathtaking poetry. To me, this poem is an epic achievement and I applaud it for keeping our inside feel tuned to its same ever sensual appeal. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

We never think we grow older every day. when we were in our teens our parents were old, when we got to our twenties, they were still old, and so they got older, and us, why, we also did, and one day looked in the mirror and wondered where all those years had gone. Lovely that your love is still your bride, my husband uses the same expression. Romantically awesome poem. Blessings my friend, Jennifer.

Love is work and also an investment, if it survives the ups and downs and then been tempered by time the payoff is immeasurable. Nicely penned, Richard:)
