Breaking the silence

I avoid discussing politics and religion.
Not because I am indifferent or uninterested,
they're both rabbit holes I care to visit but on my own.

My polite silence seems no longer sustainable.
Too many people prove content to casually wave goodbye
to democracy while insanity takes the helm.

There's no hiding the direction where things are going
and there's no turning back the hands of time...
This Titanic is a speedboat headed straight to a big old brick retainer wall.

I enjoyed reading your "Breaking the silence" write. Yes, both will send one down a rabbit hole. As a child, I was told never talk about politics or religion. Over the years I have learned first hand why. I have seen family or friends turned mad. I have written a few about AI. One not long ago. Have a blessed/wonderful day writing away.............

Another good reason for avoiding prickly subjects is that the best we can hope for is to 'agree to disagree' ~

I openly post at FB about things deplorable to me. They are things that are the result of corruption in govt and the media. Sadly. Too many people are too brainwashed to realize the big picture. But also some people like yourself can discern something horrible on the horizon

OMG ~ what a mess ! It's the equivalent of the civil war all over again ! The 'us' versus 'them' mentality. It's a nightmare that seems to have no ending.

I, too, strive to be silent regarding politics and religion. Yet, I share your feelings of alarm...rightly said...'while insanity takes the helm.' I also liked the comparison to the Titanic. Well done, Line!
