Brainy Brevity

My fourth concussion and first skull fracture were my known’s destruction. Was nearly a decade when hindsight saw grief factored into the garbled map where I tried to track the me I yesterday knew. Cognitive skills impaired, career derailed, finances math whipped, emotions and thoughts just blurred passes as headaches score and scar. My acceptance bends and bleeps ~~~ how to befriend pain’s trend ….. when my life's held in its reign?
It’s hard enough finding my name behind all an accident changed.

I just knew this would make it on the list for it was so heartfelt. I wasted my time with my entry, haha. Congrats, dear friend.

Beautifully written CayCay. A step into the sunlight of vulnerability and a gift to all who still cling to their shadows. Thank you for sharing this.

This is written with honesty and brevity CayCay. Excellent for the contest! I can see it in the winner's circle already. My son has brain stem injuries and they take their toll. Blessings, Connie xxoo

Caycay, when I saw this contest theme, I just KNEW it was one you had to write for. I feel so sad for you to have to suffer with this atrotious thing, and gosh, you never even played football, like those idiots who endanger their own lives playing in the pros. You are a wonder, Caycay, and doing amazingly well in spite of it all. Call me sometime! I still have one week off.

Thank you, Michelle, although I do not know that I'm worthy of your praise! Upon reflection, I guess we are all brave and inspiring to others at certain times in our lives, after all, we are here for each other. Again, thank you for your sweet words. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Wow, CayCay! I didn't know. I'm so glad you've made it "out of the dark" so to speak and "into the light" which you clearly have by the looks of your thoughtful poem here and in all your writings in fact. You were born to write it seems and nothing is going to stop you now. Blessings and love....Carole :D

Was a time made of mere months that I could not read with any comprehension, but I cannot recall ever putting my pen down though it was probably still for a good while. This poem makes me feel 'exposed' in a way I'm not 100% comfortable with, but sweet remarks like yours are certainly helping me overcome that feel. Thank you for such splendid kindness ... CayCay

There are layers and layers to what I've been through, what you've been through, all of us, so brevity was hard to use. I first wrote long on paper, then reduced, reduced. What to leave in and what to leave out are often issues with me. Thank you for your wonderful and very kind comments. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

CayCay, this is what poetry is about, the share of pain and joy. You help us to know you better. So many suffer ailments, when shared, we embrace each other in a fragile community.

Such sweet words, perfect words - and I sincerely thank you for each of them. I hope it's okay that I added a footnote (in terms of the contest.) You touched me in such an uplifting way. Hugs ... CayCay
