Box Turtle

Box turtle, box turtle, Won’t you play with me? I found you in the shady woods Just underneath that tree. Box turtle, box turtle, Won’t you come outside? Don’t stay all closed up in that shell; You’ve got no need to hide. Box turtle, box turtle, How do you ever grow? It must be hard; you drag that house Wherever you may go. Box turtle, box turtle, How do you hide those feet? The way you tuck them up inside Is really pretty sweet! Box turtle, box turtle, I’ll let you take a rest. I guess that all my inquiries Must have you pretty stressed. Box turtle, box turtle, I’ll sit and wait awhile. It’s not like you’ll go racing off And run a country mile. Box turtle, box turtle, You’ve really got a knack. I hardly took my eyes off you; O won’t you please come back?

Brings back some childhood memories of the "been there done that" kind. Jeff, I would think a poem like this could be endless; so let me raise the question (it was asked to Jackson Pollock): How do you know when to stop?

I'd sit there for hours hahaha. Thank God they weren't snapping turtles...

well, this one stopped on its own - I think of a child who watches a turtle, then picks it up, and it pulls inside the shell. The child waits, waits, gets bored, distracted, and then when they look again, the turtle is gone.
