Oh Robert I am so so so sorry you can relate to this on a personal level, I can't think of anything more painful that the death of a child at any age:-(As a total novice to poetry I have learned so so much since I joined soup in Feb 2014 and have written over 1400 poems in a relatively short time - I think I'm making up for lost time lol:-) Hugs Jan xx

This reminds of when my daughter was about 4 months old. I was worried about SIDS during the first year of her life. She was my alarm clock, but one day I woke before she did, at 11 am. She had gone to sleep 11 pm the night before. I ran to her crib certain she was gone, but it just turned out to be her first 12 hour sleep. GL in the contest, I liked your poem.

Oh gosh Rob you must have been so relieved, I think many parents are anxious about SIDS. I remember having a baby monitor so we could hear my son when he woke but to find your child had passed away when they were sleeping is heartbreaking:-( hugs Jan x

Thanks Chris it is based on the experience of a friend when I was 16 and she had a mental breakdown as a result of losing her baby, it's something that will always be with me:-( hugs Jan xx
