Bored Games

The game of chess
  truly bores me
Enough time between moves
for a dip in the sea

There's one more game
  that drives me up trees
Time it with a calendar
   Its name ~ 'Monopoly'

You are right... ! Chess is for people with great concentration, not for poets who get easily distracted by flights of fancy.... Ha ha!

Ooh, I love both chess and monopoly; too be you don't live near me; we'd get a good game going.

I like Trivia Pursuit or Jeopardy. Bridge, if we're going to play cards.

Nowadays we can play blitz chess online, say 5 minute time limit, I do that a fair bit and enjoy too!

Hi Gershon, I enjoyed this poem. We used to play Monoply with our son when he was young. It was his favorite game. He usually won, as he was the banker. Lol. The memories were priceless. Blessings ~ Debra

Oh yes, I agree. I enjoy Trivial Pursuit and some of the more strategic games. I get very frustrated with Monopoly.

I myself can't believe that anyone actually plays Monopoly anymore. After all, don't all the generations after the Boomers have ADD or ADHD?! ~ Dr. Pill-Happy

Scrabble is our thing, we play it often, Monopoly never and chess never, ever. Hugs and blessings, BORED games, you are so right. Jennifer

Gershon, as a child, I spent many hours, playing monopoly with family and friends. I never played Chess, wish I had learned because the strategy hones the mind. So for now I will just enjoy your creative McWhirtle "Bored Games". Blessings,Paulette

Thanks for the fun response Paulette... And here's a little 'nugget' for you: I never played chess either, but I've watched so many games, because all my relatives (from the Ukraine) play 'all the time.' So, I am kind of an 'honorary chess player.' lol. Monopoly -- tell me about it... Have a great weekend! Best wishes, Gershon

I have only played one game of monopoly and that was years and years ago. I finally gave my holdings to my grandson and went to bed. He was loving it. He would be saying, "I'm rich, I'm rich" and at least for that one time in his life he was. Enjoyed reading this one. The form is what caught my eye. Sara
