Innovation is like looking for pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. You have to find a lot of pieces that don't  match to find the one or two pieces that match.

--Edward Conard

deep in the trenches a forest of cardboard trees and stained glass windows twiddling pieces through fingers sizing up like private eye a piece here…and there like a long drawn out story finally middle latched shut and made the sign of the cross now I aim for the quadrants

So Kim, I suspect this applies to a lot more than jigsaw puzzles. We do have to try a lot of things--even in thinking--before we see what we want at the given moment. Sounds a lot like writing poetry too. TY!!

It seems the sign of the cross is the end of the trenches? Beautiful poetry, Kim. I love "cardboard trees" and "stained glass windows" - in your trenches. It seems like it's your own way of questioning, but you give it to God...

No, it wasn’t! Was a tough puzzle but I did finish it! My 9 yr old grandson wanted me to do this 1000 piece puzzle. Hopefully the stick-to-it-ness will help him in future endeavours. xx Thank you!

Dear Kim, Your poem, struck a chord with me. The words you used, such as being “deep in the trenches” amidst a “forest of cardboard trees”, beautifully portrayed the intricate journey of innovation. Your analogy of finding pieces that don’t match before uncovering the ones that do is insightful. It reflects the perseverance and determination inherent in the creative process. It inspires reflection on the beauty and complexity of pursuing new ideas. Wonderful poem, Kim. - Blessings, Daniel

Kim, love the metaphor for life's challenges while the title elicits a bit of mystery. Your poem is so experiential as you twiddle pieces and size up your progress. Have enjoyed sharing your journey as you put together this jigsaw puzzle. I do love jigsaw puzzles and can't wait until we have place to permanently set up a jigsaw puzzle. Many thanks for this unique poem!

Jigsaw pieces are frustrating because you are sure that those few on the table are part of a storm brewing in the sky, but in actual fact they are a part of the large lake below. i can see you enjoy puzzles from your clever poem, grandchildren are the best we love them so much. My grand daughter turned one year old on the lst January this year, she is she a darling Kim, until she was born last year I couldn't understand the love that encompasses and bonds you, now I'm totally hooked! Hugs and blessings Jen.

Thank you for sharing your heart, your joy, your little darling! As I close in on the last portions of this bear of a puzzle, I feel very proud for sticking to it! God bless!

Niceley done Kim. I like puzzles but they have to be small because my attention span is tiny.

a lovely write...I'm not a puzzles fan, but my hubby is...he's like Constance..finding that one piece is like a huge reward. I'd rather write or read. Enjoyed your poem. Have a pleasant weekend ahead, Sara
