Body and Soul

The soul strives upward
  yearning to cast aside flesh

Though one that tore his body asunder
found a universe did not mesh

This is a deep piece of writing, Gershon ! The soul has an upward thrust as it yearns to leave the encmbrance of the body behind and reunite with its creator !But as long as we are here a meshing of the body and soul is needed!

I like your take on this poem, Valsa. Are you sure you didn't write it?! Joy and more Joy, Gershon

Physical entities seem standing still, in reality race through space, deteriorate then evaporate, hence the spirit hovers and assumes another nameless face. My humble take. Mazel tov Gershon...ab

Well penned my friend. I sometimes wish my soul would stop looking upwards and repair the body it has but... Have a great day my friend.

David, if you find a quality, reasonably-priced 'body shop,' please let me know. I'll do the same for you, my friend. ~ Huffin' and Puffin'

Love the verses but did not get he meaning .... over my head. Darn. Also, seems an article or word missing after the word, universe! Thick headed Pangie xoxo

Meaning: The body and soul are meant to exist in harmony. The soul's desire to 'escape' is premature. (After death, we're 'all soul.'). In the meantime down here, there are a zillion good deeds to be done: 'reward' to be claimed and earned... As for the article missing, you are correct! It's an intentional, 'poetic touch.' Here's to a day of feeling better. Poetry hugs, Gershon
