Blue and On Wheels

Can't be for an old Stanley Steamer
With Bernie my car is a screamer
With magnet en route
If you see me please toot
It’s strategically stuck on my bimmer*

*This is the correct spelling for a BMW car or person. Mine is a previously-owned (many times over) 3-series with 259,000 miles that we maintain. Apologies for burning fossil fuel, but at least there is no depreciation to deal with.

Thanks for reading my Colors of Summer, I used to lay out on the grass and read :) Now I read from my kindle fire downloaded from Amazon :), I see down below you ask about my car I had an Infiniti I30 1998. Jan. 7th I bought 2002 honda accord with 70 thousand miles.

Hey--good for you. There is no reason I know of to buy a new car. It depreciates a lot in the first few years. I'm up to 275,000 miles now. The funny part is that I just got a recall notice for the driver side airbag. The airbag is probably worth more than the car is. This is just too funny!

Why don't you tell me about your transportation? As soon as I can, I will try to own a car that drives itself. That will be fun as I will be able to write poetry during my commutes.

Your welcome. I still have a magnetic "Bernie" sticker and am up to 273,000 miles or so. They make really good cars, and I work on it myself at this point because if I didn't--it would bankrupt me.

Duke, they seem to make older cars much better than the newer models. My little 2004 Beetle has never needed a brake job and we live up a steep hill. My other cars needed a brake job a year! Hang onto your little gold mine! Great limerick. ; )

Connie, that is great! No brake job--that means it's designed really well. There is also a lot of room in that car. BTW, so far so good. I am over 262,000 and still going. The only way to afford this is that we do our own maintenance.

Hansteven, thank-you for reading this one. I wish I had an electric car--no I wish I didn't even need a car. However, driving with a Bernie bumper sticker is the best use for this thing plus I need it to get to work. Mass transit doesn't fit the bill for many of us.

Funom--I just realized your name begins with fun. You are most kind. We are trying, at least sometimes, to express things with a bit of humor when possible.

OK, I exaggerated. Right now it only has 258,899 miles. It has been a lot of work, but the satisfaction after each repair is pleasant. Youtube videos help a lot. I am trying to get to 300k and possibly higher. We shall see. I will keep you posted. If you need a brake job, just stop over! Funny that the parts are available on-line and are relatively inexpensive. It's the labor that is a killer for the high end vehicles. We've also noticed that Mercedes parts are a lot more expensive. Don't have one.

oh, first, on what you asked me to do. I rarely watch news, much less politics or debates. All I know is that the Republicans seem to be ruining things for the elderly. From something I recently heard about Medicare. What is so funny to me is how they turn around and say it's the Democrats who are ruining things. If I can remember to do it, I will try to watch this debate you told me about.

You may be very surprised. I know I have been. Someone like this comes around rarely. A politician with principles is just such an unusual thing. If you do catch it, let me know what you think.

Will always move over for you! Check out Bernie Sanders. There is a debate this coming Wednesday on CNN, so you will be able to see why I like him so much. There is nothing like justice, empathy and fairness. He has lived it with such consistency. I hope you do not mind, but he is so different from everyone else running for 2016.

:-))) On the remote chance that I pass,// I may just step on the gas// or slam the brake with my foot// rather than just toot// else I might bump someone's a$$...:-))). Good one, Duke! hugs!

Kim, we can drag race anytime. You may see me. My magnet should arrive any day. You won't be able to miss my car since there are not so many like it on the road now. BTW, your poem on forgiveness is very thought provoking. Many thanks for the inspiration. You have helped me and may help many others.

The limerick master strikes again! Clever and funny stuff here Duke... If I pass you I will definitely toot my own horn (which I do quite often) and by the way, I want to buy it. Name your price. I got 20 bucks on me right now...

Too funny Tim. It's meant watching all kinds of DIY videos on youtube. My hands have gotten really dirty, but it is a great car that can't die. With a manual transmission and no x-drive, it's open and easy to get into things. I am surprised at what I have been able to do.
