Notes About The Poem

Blooming Poetry

A poem starts as a tiny little seed planted in your mind You nurture it, in time tiny roots start to form It keeps on growing, branching out in all directions Bursting from the buds the verses start to form Until the poem blooms before your very eyes Finally you are ready to reveal it in its full glory You show the poem; your confidence blossoms Some words may still need cultivating and pruning Kind people will advise of where to trim or weed My advice to new writers is simple – just have fun Embrace your growing creativity with all your heart 05~16~15

Jan: This may indeed give some budding young poet a brave heart and "green thumb" to keep on "growing". Well done. oldbuck

I can relate to it myself - I have grown in so many ways since starting writing about 16 months ago - the best thing is my self confidence which has soared - the head of English at work has asked me to do another talk on 'creative writing' to our 6th form students and then a follow up session (the first talk I did was in September but with family issues the time hasn't been right until now to do more) Hugs jan xx

From Poetry soup you now give us poetry farm, Jan! I really like this poem in which you describe how a poem is able to grow slowly until it reaches maturity. The advice in the final two lines is honest and wise. Hugs // paul
