Black Sky
How somber the sky without stars
once filled with the reverie of tomorrow
removed by the drift of pain...that lingers
before falling down the face of sorrow
never to return...trails, left fading
dispersed by shadowed times
when paradise turned a world to gray
and death's hands clutched the throat of life
entering unannounced
offering a game of melancholy to the grieving
clinging to hope, unsustained, only borrowed
when moments spun and spun
in a dizzying form, melting, falling, tumbling
into a slow ebb of vanishing breath
washed away by welling orbs...drowning
from death's painful point of pain
when I knew my love was dying
and my heart lay on the banks of hell
as anguish claimed its victim
dragging me into the dim-lit realm of suffering
when her eyes closed
and tears poured and poured
from the weight of a lonely world
circling the feet of my despair
where I saw a reflection of a black sky
where stars once shined
