Bittersweet Morn

Dreaded are the darkest nights inside Souls bereaving just before the dawn When new daybreak slowly appears On the horizon of a bittersweet morn, Comes the sun’s rays swift awakening Through bitter tears and restlessness To lie across a heaving landscape here Soon tossed aside to face another day, Despite the loss of joy and happiness In early morn before an alarm sounded, While I slept, she slipped quietly away And stole with her all my blissfulness, Afterward there’s nothing more to say.

A sad awakening...to mourn the morn. This touches my heart softly and sorely Milt. Thanks for sharing, Linda

We sleep, wake up in the morning to mourn a loved one. I feel this!

That's not the way to begin any day. Some of your lines are sadly beautiful in which your phrasing skill is on display. In the doldrums? I hope this daybreak finds the sun shining on you, Milt.

I believe that is true because, from time to time, I have experienced it.

and that is why we write... There are memories touched by things that come to mind without calling them. We write because they seem to knock on memories door, or a fantasy yet to be lived, because they take wing inside us and beg to escape.

Thank you, Jenna. I cannot explain this poem, at all. It started out in one direction and took another. I thought about not posting it, but it seemed to have some meaning for me and, possibly, for someone else. No, not in the doldrums. But, Deb passed away at 4:00 am while I slept. It was interesting that this came into mind at the end of my piece.

I feel the pain in your words Milton and know there are no real words of comfort I or anyone else can offer Tom

Tom, see what I wrote to Jenna. I'm in very good spirits. That event happened almost four years ago, so I have moved on...slowly, but successfully. Good to hear from you.

A heartfelt moment you have expressed so well with affecting imagery to relate to. Nicely done Milton. Could feel the pain in this one...

Your imagery is pronouncedly great here "Comes the sun’s rays swift awakening Through bitter tears and restlessness To lie across a heaving landscape here"

Thank you, Caren. This piece came out of nowhere; then, I realized I was writing about some painful moments a number of years ago.
