Those memories of her, now bittersweet Recalling tender moments that we shared Young lovers' dreams which time can not defeat Is proof down deep inside how much I cared My pining heart still yearns for yesterday To taste those honey kisses once again Her dark brown eyes that always seemed to say The love she had for me would never end But that is where my recollection fades As fate stepped in and steered her love away The passing years created such a haze What caused our love to die has now decayed I wonder if she ever thinks of me With fondness, like my treasured memories an original poem by Daniel Turner

Beautiful and soulful memories shared, Daniel. This one I like a lot. It shows that everyone has beauty and love deep within their heart that is sometimes not noticed or seen when things change. Thanks for reminding me of what the other partner could feel as well. It heals. I love the title too. Sharon : )

Sharon,by looking at your icon, you look as if you have broken a few hearts:) I think we all have those memories of a long ago love and from time to time something will spark their memory. We wonder, do they think about me. Yes, they do. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and share your thoughts. It means a lot to me.

You reckon she still thinks about you, Mike? In fondness? I'm sure she does. I think we all do, not with vanity but with love. The heart never forgets a gentle touch. Thanks for dropping by Mike. It means a lot to me.

If I was in school it might draw a C+ or a B-. I would say average. I'm no Shakespeare. LOL Thank you though, Wing Man, I really appreciate the high praise and I always look forward to our next visit:)

Thank you Andrea. You are partly responsible for teaching me about meter, so now I am thanking you. I am certain from time to time, we all relive a yesterday and wonder "what if?" The best part is, we can answer it any way we like.

Mr Turner, This is an excellent bookmark for those who say they struggle with meter. There was a time when we all did (most find it impossible), but few have mastered it as you have here, and better yet to be written with a truly romantic yet self-effacing tinge that grips the heart. A perfect volta in line 9. I love everything about this sonnet!

Thank you. I wrote my very first sonnet in Feb of this year. With the help of many people here in the soup and some no longer here, I learned how to write sonnets. I kept doing it over and over. You can see just by looking at my list of poems. Mastered (hardly) but I do understand. Thank you for your wonderful comments.

Thank you and you are welcome. I owe it all to Lin Lane, who taught me how to write a sonnet but I had many people here in the soup who contributed, too many to name them all but they know who they are.
